I stared piercingly at the young women in my dream for a long moment before I answered. Then I nodded.
"So it is."
I turned and reached into my bag. I brought out four feathers and my medicine bowl, laid the feathers pointing to the four directions, with the bowl in the center, with water in it. The women settled in for the first phase of our ceremony.
There is great reverence shown for the objects I use in a ritual. My fingers worked diligently, as I touched my old friends. I carefully honored them for their work, because I realize the power they contain. We are one in this magical moment. I have been allowed to work with these prceious tools, many of which have been handed down through the generations.
"You know, my daughters, where we sit?" I ask as I continue our circle.
Wolf Star nodded, wide-eyed without speaking. I spread possibilities before them. Dozens of images show plainly in the fire of the lodge.
"I close the universal circle," I continued,"and the universe becomes earthlife." I encircled the feathers and bowl with corn meal.
I showed the women the tlish diyan breathwork, and offered life, then inhaled life with the circling movement of my arms and hands. We could see more after this exchange.
"Many years ago, before you were born, my daughters, you chose the path you walk now. All experiences were carefully charted, and now you dream. You are complete to chart a new course." Grandmother Naylin dropped in, to share her message.
"Now you have come here, come among us, with new hope."
Sitting Crow listened intently. Many in our circle this night, had struggled. Yet, with Grandmother, a new dimension was added. Little Shell eagerly looked more closely at the fire. Yes, truth was found this night. Eagerly, Bear Cub looked around. Some of Grandmother's messages resembled those they had heard from others. River Wind reflected a successful gifting of power, and Arrows Held Together settled into herself. The Hat'ii Lodge, with women sitting in circle, some for the first time, was steaming and changing us. A resounding moment resulted, and Cloud Moon spoke of this. Yes, this was the VisionKeepers, as Grams Twylah had shown me. That had been years before some of these women were born, others were just babies.
There was the polarity journey, too, which many had never experienced before, though they may have heard it mentioned. The transition, when Grandmother's HeartFire had been extinguished. And the vision of meeting one's self in the coming and going of life. I regard this vision journey, with a special kind of awe, my ancestry, guardians of all these fascinating ways. That we still talk, sharing the magic in a healing spiral dance of life.
"– and so, since the coming of Wolf Star, VisionKeepers has become your gift. The Women are full of dreams, and many choices for fulfillment. It was good when Wolf Star, came to us with her dream."
The Fairy Grotto at our ranch, forms a sacred space about 50 feet weed, with a seasonal creek, and a sensation of merging mystical with daily. This place, together with the work we do, is home to wildlife, light and shadows, little people and my heart. At this time of impending Fall, of course, the grasses are dying back, and the lightning takes on a surrealistic quality. This is where I work. I am blessed.
